IPSoft 4.0 Computer Requirements, Policy, Pricing, and Support

a) To get the familiar Windows interface, click the “Desktop” rectangle in the lower left.
b) Windows 8 has no Start button because Microsoft removed it (no one knows why). To restore that useful button, run this fix: Win8StartButtonSetup
About Macs: Please be aware that POS is NOT responsible for your expenses in time and money required in making your Mac compatible with POS software, websites, videos and other features.

|
SCANNER ***
|
Epson V700 Photo. Transparency unit is included. Available online or from certain camera stores. Let us know if you need help finding a vendor.
NOTE: While we do NOT provide hardware support for scanners, we will be happy to help you with setup and using that scanner, including the optimal settings needed to scan x-rays, models and photos.
|
|
External Storage Device for backups
|
USB flash drive, external hard disk, CD, or network drive
|
* USB ports are needed for: external storage device, scanner, and mouse.
** IPSoft must access the internet for certain functions; therefore a reliable internet connection is crucial. You can obtain pricing for broadband internet connections from your local telephone company or cable TV provider.
*** The Scanner is needed to scan X-rays and other pictures into digital format. If you use a digital x-ray machine to produce your x-ray files, you do not need a scanner with transparency unit. Instead you can use any flatbed scanner for models and photographs. If you have a digital camera and digital ceph images, you need only a flatbed scanner for your models.
Due to various problems, these configurations are not recommended:
1. -Windows XP Tablet Edition
2. –Laptops with screens smaller than 13 inches
3. -Touch screen computers
4. -Computers with malfunctioning or illegal Microsoft Windows or Microsoft Office
5. -Computers with dual operating systems, such as XP and Vista on the same computer
6. -Dial-up internet connections
7. -Computers of unknown brand name
Note about digital cameras:
You will need to enter photographs for your patient records in IPSoft. If you decide to take those photos yourself, you will need a digital camera. There are countless cameras on the market and they change frequently. So it's impossible to recommend a particular one. Features like "macro" (for close-ups) and "image stabilization" are helpful but do not guarantee good results. We suggest this method to choose a camera:
-1-Decide on a price range.
2. -With another person, go to a camera or electronics store that you trust.
3. -Ask a sales person which cameras in your price range take good close-up pictures.
4. -With two or three cameras that you like, take close-up pictures of the other person's teeth. Then compare the quality of the pictures.
5. -If you like the way the camera feels, but not its images, ask the sales person for advice. The camera may require a different setting that produces better results.
6. -Buy that camera which gave you the best results, and feels good to use.
If you can not find a camera to your liking, please consider this complete dental camera kit: http://www.dinecorp.com/?page_id=4&category=8&product_id=14

Due to various problems, these configurations are not recommended:
1. Mac computers
2. Windows XP Tablet Edition
3. Computers with bootlegged (illegal) Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
4. Computers with dual operating systems, such as XP and Vista on the same computer
5. Dial-up internet connections
6. Computers of unknown brand name
Progressive Orthodontics Software Policy and Pricing
IPSoft, the POS software, is an integral element of POS teaching and seminars. It assists with diagnosing cases, record keeping, treatment predictions, case presentations, and ordering supplies.
- If you are a current POS student, you will receive the software (currently version 4.0.42) free of charge.
- Like other software, IPSoft is license based, meaning that it can be used on one computer only. There are additional fees for using it on more than one computer.
- If you graduate from POS, or if you purchase IPSoft, you are entitled to keep the current version forever.
- If you drop out of our seminars without graduating, or if you fail to make payments that are due to POS, your access to IPSoft will be terminated. In that case, you will have the option of purchasing IPSoft at its current price.
- Technical support is provided free to all IPSoft users, for the last 2 versions (currently, 3.1.x through 4.0.x), using one of these methods: phone call, email, remote login, or walk-in – whichever is most efficient. Such support is limited to IPSoft itself and closely related topics, such as scanning images into IPSoft.
- Future software upgrades may incur a charge to help POS recover some of its software development investment.
- IPSoft is available as standalone (single user) ONLY. We no longer sell the network version due to technical problems.
Pricing as of September 2008 – these prices are in effect until further notice:
- No charge for the first license, if you are a current POS student or have an older version of the POS software.
- Upgrades to the current version (4.0.42) are free from any older version of Ipsoft or POSoft.
- If you have no IPSoft / POSoft, and you are NOT a current POS student, the first license costs US$ 2500 (one time payment); or US$ 3000, payable in up to 6 monthly installments.
- Pricing for additional licenses, see table below:
|
1 to 3 additional licenses
|
4 to 10 additional licenses
|
More than 10 additional licenses
